Activity analysis/monitoring

The amount of physical activity in daily life is closely related to improvements in physical fitness. In collaboration with the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, Tokyo, Japan and Toray Industries, Inc., Tokyo, Japan, we have been working on the application of a wearable biomonitoring system (hitoe®︎ system) that measures heart rate and activity through clothing for patients who are undergoing rehabilitation, as well as to quantify the daily activity with the measurement and to analyze its effects on functional improvement. We also have worked on the development of a pulse oximeter that can monitor the Sp02 during exercise (jointly developed with Japan Precision Inc., Gunma, Japan). With these projects developing the methodology to monitor the amount of daily physical activity and increasing it with monitoring-based goal setting, we aim to establish a standard rehabilitation strategy to improve the patients' physical fitness.
